Switching from Book in Beautiful to Orbis Salon

A fair, plain-English guide to moving your salon — what usually migrates, what to check before you switch, and how we make the move painless.

A fair starting point

What Book in Beautiful does well

Book in Beautiful positions itself around simple, accessible online booking for beauty businesses, and that clarity is genuinely valuable — a booking-focused tool with a low barrier to entry can be a sensible starting point for many salons. Always check Book in Beautiful's own website for its current pricing and features.

  • A low-friction start can make it easy to get online booking up and running.
  • Booking-first tools often suit independent beauty businesses that mainly need a diary online.
  • Clear, simple positioning keeps the day-to-day learning curve light.
  • A focused tool can be quick to set up when online booking is the main need.

If Book in Beautiful is working well for you, that's genuinely fine — this page is for salons whose needs have changed.

Why salons switch

When Orbis Salon is the better fit

Salons usually move because what they want from their software has changed — not because their old system stopped working. Common reasons:

  • You want a full branded salon website on your own domain, not only a booking page.
  • You want deeper client records — forms, consent, preferences, treatment history and aesthetics records where needed.
  • You want a customer portal, Manager app, Client app and Windows app experiences alongside online booking.
  • You want marketing, reviews, SEO tools, loyalty, memberships, stock, POS and reporting in the same platform as your diary.

Moving your data

What can usually be migrated

Exactly what comes across depends on what Book in Beautiful lets you export on your plan — but our Import Centre handles CSV and spreadsheet imports for the essentials:

  • Client names & contact details
  • Client notes, where exported
  • Services & prices
  • Staff & working hours
  • Products & stock lists
  • Upcoming appointments, where available

We review your export files with you before the switch, so you know exactly what will and won't come across — no surprises.

Before you give notice

What to check first

  • Your contract & notice period Check whether your current plan has a minimum term or notice period before you cancel.
  • Data export options Export your clients, appointments and sales history while you still have access — export options can vary by plan.
  • Upcoming bookings & deposits Plan how future appointments and any held deposits or prepayments will be handled during the changeover.
  • Vouchers, packages & balances List outstanding gift vouchers, course balances and memberships so they can be honoured in the new system.
  • Your domain & booking links Check who controls your domain and update booking links on Google, Instagram and Facebook on switch day.

FAQs

Switching from Book in Beautiful — your questions

Can I move my client list from Book in Beautiful to Orbis Salon?
In most cases, yes. If you can export your clients (usually as a CSV or spreadsheet), our Import Centre can bring them across — names, contact details and notes where available. Export options depend on your Book in Beautiful plan, so check what you can download before you give notice.
Will I lose my booking history or upcoming appointments?
Upcoming appointments usually need to be re-entered or imported, depending on what your export includes. We recommend running both systems briefly during the switch so nothing is missed. Past history can often be imported where your export includes it.
Does Orbis Salon charge commission on bookings?
Orbis Salon is not a marketplace taking a percentage commission from every booking. Standard plans have no Orbis online booking service fee; Lite and Flex plans have lower monthly pricing and include a small online booking service fee on online bookings. The only other usage costs are optional SMS bundles and any third-party card processing fees.
Is Orbis Salon a marketplace like some other platforms?
No. Orbis Salon is not a marketplace — it gives you your own branded website, booking system and apps, so clients book directly with you and the relationship stays yours.
How long does switching from Book in Beautiful take?
It varies with the size of your client list and how much you want to bring across. Many salons are live within a couple of weeks. We help plan the switch — including a free audit of your current setup — so there's no gap in taking bookings.
Can I move my clients and services across?
In most cases, yes. If your current system lets you export services, prices and client details, the Orbis Salon Import Centre can bring across what your export includes — and we review your files with you before you go live.
